  Using the Demo License Generator

If you have a question that is not covered here, a suggestion for this page or the Demo License Generator itself, please let us know at licenses@graphon.com.

If you have been issued a product code for a demo license, please follow the instructions for generating a license using your product code. The below information details how to get a short-term evaluation license automatically using the GraphOn website. If you have a product code, these instructions do not apply.

What is a Demo License?

A License is a text file installed with your software that tells your application that you have the right to run your software. It is the equivalent to keys for your car -- without keys, your car will not run, or will not run very well.

A demo license is a license that will expire after some number of days [one or two weeks, or a month]. For longer duration demo licenses, please contact GraphOn's Sales department, at sales@graphon.com.

What do I need to do to generate a Demo License?

You need to download software and begin installation!

If you have received a product code from GraphOn or an approved reseller, for an evaluation or permanent license, please use the GraphOn License Generator to obtain your license, not the Demo License Generator.

How do I obtain my Demo License?

Fill out a three-step registration form at http://license.graphon.com/demo/ .

  1. You will be asked for contact information, including your email address,
  2. You will be shown a copy of the GraphOn Software Agreement,
  3. You will be asked for information about your license server(s) [specifically, hostname and hostid], and the product you wish to evaluate.

A demo license file for that product will then be generated and displayed to you in your browser window.

A copy will be sent to the email address you provided in step 1. The email includes license installation instructions, which vary for GraphOn's products, but will tell you where on your filesystem to save the license file, if you are following a default installation configuration.

Where can I learn more about Licenses?

To learn about how FLEXlm licenses work [and that's what GraphOn uses], you can visit the website for GlobeTrotter Software, the company that makes FLEXlm. Their website is http://www.globetrotter.com/ .
