Getting A Software License

What is a License?

A License is a text file installed with your software that tells your application that you have the right to run your software. It is the equivalent to keys for your car - without keys, your car will not run.

What do I need to do to generate a License?

You need to purchase the software and begin installation. Specifically, you need a product code from GraphOn or a GraphOn-approved license manager [if you are purchasing from a reseller or systems integrator, you may get your product code from them]. If you don't have one yet, you'll need to coordinate with GraphOn's Sales and Accounting team to get one. Without a product code, you cannot obtain a permanent software license.

If you would like a demo or evaluation license, you can use GraphOn's Demo License Generator to obtain one. A product code is not required, but the license you receive will be for a limited duration only. Please follow the demo license instructions to get an evaluation license.

What is a Product Code?

A product code is a receipt for your software purchase. It's a proof-of-purchase used to generate your license when you are ready to install your software. Once you have made payment for your software, you will be issued a product code. You must then take the product code and use it to complete your license registration and obtain your license.

A product code is often an encrypted string containing a serial number associated with your software purchase, and must by typed or copied exactly as issued when entering it in the license generator.

How do I Register a License?

After receiving your product code, you must fill out a three-step registration form at http://license.graphon.com/user/

  1. You will be asked for contact information, including your email address.
  2. You will be shown a copy of the GraphOn Software Agreement.
  3. You will be asked for information about your license server(s) [specifically, the hostname and hostid], and your product code.

A license file will then be generated and displayed to you in your browser window.

A copy will be sent to the email address you provided in step 1. The email includes license installation instructions, which vary for GraphOn's products, but will tell you where on your filesystem to save the license file, if you are following a default installation configuration.
